The main contractors on the Children's Oncology Hospital are ACC
in consortium with Siemens Medical Equipments. The client is the
Association of Friends of the National Cancer Institute, with Universal
Hospital Services (UHS) as the project manager.
The project sits on a 24,000m² landscaped site and consists
of two main components: The Bed Tower with seven storeys of inpatient
rooms and offices with an approximate area of 2,500m², and the
Diagnostic Area consisting of five storeys for exam, laboratory,
imaging and operation rooms, with an approximate area of 5,000m².
In addition to high standard hospital requirements, the works call
for the construction of particular steel sails, a dome, a high performance
aluminium curtain wall and local (Hashma) stone cladding.
